HYBRID EVENTS

HYBRID EVENTS & AV PRODUCTIONs IN GAUTENG

Showtech produces hybrid events across Johannesburg, Pretoria and the wider Gauteng region — events built for two audiences at once, the people in the room and those joining remotely, each given a considered, high-quality experience. Full in-room AV and integrated live production, managed end to end by our own crew.

Hybrid events are more than a camera pointed at a stage with a stream running. It’s a single event deliberately designed for two audiences, where the remote attendees aren’t just watching a secondary feed — they can see and hear clearly, follow the programme, and where it matters, participate. Getting that right means the in-room production and the online experience have to run as one integrated system, not two setups fighting each other.

That integration is exactly what we handle. Your in-person audience gets full event production — sound, screens, lighting, staging — while your remote audience gets a properly produced stream, with the two coordinated so the event feels like one experience wherever people are joining from.

What we provide for hybrid events

In-Room AV

  • Full production for the physical event — audio, video and screens, lighting and staging — so the people in the room get a proper event, not a compromised one. The in-person experience isn’t sacrificed to serve the stream; both are produced to the same standard.

Multi-Camera Production

  • A watchable stream needs more than one locked-off camera. We run multi-camera setups with live switching — speaker shots, wide shots, slides and content — cut live so your remote audience sees a produced broadcast, not a static wide shot of a distant stage.

Streaming & Platform Integration

  • We stream to the platform your audience uses — Zoom, Teams, YouTube and others — and can manage that platform connection for you, or deliver a clean feed for your team to run. The stream is set up and monitored live so it stays reliable throughout.

Two-Way Interaction

  • This is what makes an event genuinely hybrid rather than just streamed. We can bring remote presenters into the room — displayed on the room screens, heard through the venue sound — and bring remote audience questions back into the room, so the two audiences connect rather than sitting in separate silos.

Recording

  • We record the full event cleanly, so you have broadcast-quality footage for on-demand replay, internal use or repurposing after the day.

Why hybrid events need a managed partner

Hybrid carries more technical risk than a standard event, simply because there are more moving parts — two audiences, two audio mixes, cameras, switching, a stream, a platform, and the connectivity holding it all together. If the integration fails, both audiences feel it. That’s precisely why hybrid needs an experienced technical partner who plans it as one coordinated system, runs separate audio mixes for the room and the broadcast, monitors the stream live, and builds in backup on the elements that matter — including connectivity, the single biggest point of failure in any hybrid event.

With over 20 years producing corporate events across Gauteng, we deliver hybrid events that work for everyone — polished in the room and professional online.

What's the difference between a hybrid event and just live streaming?

A live stream broadcasts your event one-way to remote viewers. A hybrid event integrates both audiences — remote attendees can participate, remote presenters can be brought into the room, and the two audiences connect. We do both; a hybrid event is the fuller, interactive version.

Which streaming platforms do you work with?

We stream to the platform your audience uses — Zoom, Microsoft Teams, YouTube and others — and can manage that connection for you or provide a clean feed for your own team to run.

Can remote attendees ask questions or present?

Yes. We can bring remote audience questions back into the room, and bring remote presenters into the event on the room screens and sound, so both audiences genuinely interact.

Do you handle the internet connection?

Connectivity is the biggest risk in a hybrid event, so we plan for it — advising on the venue’s connection and, where needed, arranging a dedicated line and backup so the stream doesn’t drop.

Can you record the event as well?

Yes. We provide clean, broadcast-quality recording of the full event for on-demand replay or repurposing afterwards.
